  • My Top 10 Favorite Contrapoints videos

I know lots of people dislike her and she’s been “cancelled” a billion times but I will always stan Natalie. I’ve rewatched her video essays sooo many times and I just don’t get tired of them.
I am also more parasocially invested in her life and career than I’d like to admit. I want to be her friend so bad. She has such great taste in everything and is so funny and smart and pretty. 🥺

  • My top 10 Favorite love interests in Gilmore Girls (+who I hate)

    1. Dave Rygalski
(I grew up watching The OC and therefore have a huuuge crush on Adam Brody. And this role is the most attractive he’s ever been imo. Great boyfriend, musician, music nerd. And the episode where he reads the entire bible in one night just so he can officially take Lane to prom is bf goals.)
    2. Luke
(I don’t think I need to explain. He’s just the best. Cis-het men should study him to become better people.)
    3. Jess
(Yeah, I know he’s a shitty boyfriend. But he has amazing taste in music, movies, books and is a genius, underachieving bad boy. That’s exactly my type unfortunately.)
    4. Marty
(I am still so mad that Rory chose Logan over Marty. Marty was such a cute, sweet, non-threatening guy. The only reason he’s not higher on this list is his shitty behavior in the later seasons. but Season 4+5 Marty is the perfect guy imo.)
    5. Kirk
(Hot take: Kirk is hot. Yes, he’s dorky and extremely weird and not conventionally attractive, but that’s exactly why he’s hot to me. The only down-side which puts him lower on this list is that he lives with his mother.)
    6. Jason “Digger” Styles
(I know some people disagree, but I reeeally liked Jason as a love interest. He and Lorelai had such great chemistry and he’s funny, witty and a little eccentric. Also quite good looking. I don’t find the actor playing him attractive in any other show, but this role + the beard really suit him.)
    7. Doyle
(I love how he matches Paris’ freak. He’s sooo into her and not at all threatened by her genius and ambitions. Also I like that he’s a bit effeminate. But I hate the scene where they’re broken up and he’s drunk and weird to Rory.)
    8. Max Medina
(He’s sweet and good looking and how he pursues Lorelai in the first season is really attractive, but he’s also a bit boring. And I don’t like the other sides of him we see in Season 2.)
    9. Alex
(Also sweet, witty, good looking but kind of boring besides that. Also we don’t really know much about him because of how minor a character he was)
    10. Robert
(In case you don’t remember who he even is. He’s the friend of Logan’s who asked Rory to go to the Tarantino birthday party with him. I just think he’s hot and weird and I needed a 10th and hated/didn’t care for everyone else. Sorry)

Honorable Mentions: Rune and Jackson. Both are not my type but I love them as characters.

    Who I hate:
    Logan (!!!!)
    Christopher (!!!)
    Dean (!!!!!!)
    Zach (!)

  • Top 10 of the ultimate gift ideas for me specifically

    1. W.I.T.C.H. Sonderheft Band 29 and/or 30, 31, 32
(I collect them since childhood and I have every single one except those 4. Sadly they’ve been out of stock for ages now so they’re rare to find at a decent price)
    2. Official Frenemies Merch (Shirt, Hoodie or Beanie. My fav would be a Hoodie but I would be extremely happy with any of them. Oh, and size M but larger would be fine too)
    3. My favorite shoes that are currently falling apart slowly and I don’t know how I will be able to cope without them, Purple T.U.K. Velvet Combat Boots – EU Size 41, (they’re only available in other countries anymore and way to expensive)
    4. Making me Letterboxd famous (Asking lots of people to make an account, if they don’t have one already, then to follow me and to read and like my reviews)
    5. A surprise party where everyone is wearing elaborate film themed costumes.
    6. One or more of the pieces of clothing I lost when my suitcase got stolen on holiday last year that I wasn’t able to find and rebuy on Vinted yet.
    7. Learning the Napoleon Dynamite Dance for me and then dancing it for me (preferably in cosplay)
    8. Sending a Superchat on YouTube when the H3 Podcast is live and asking for a shoutout for me (You have to do it early in the episode and for enough money that they’ll actually read it though)
    9. A cake with my face printed on it like in the Gilmore Girls episode where Rory turns 16 OR a replicate of the ugly pink cake Mr. Burns makes for homer in the episode “Scenes from the class struggle in Springfield”
    10. Sylvanian Families Blind Bags (only when there is a new series that just dropped since I otherwise most likely already have most of them)

Which also always works to make me happy:
Asking me to explain one of my favorite topics in detail to you and acting (or even better actually being) very interested.
Or asking me to teach you Binding of Isaac. ^^

  • My Top 60 Favorite Popcicles and Ice cream Cones

First things first: sorry for my long absence. I was terribly depressed and lost my passion for most things. + the thought of posting stuff made me anxious.
But I’m better now and I have written lots of lists during my absence, so look out for more posts in the next few days.

My main list project this summer was buying and tasting a ridiculous amount of different kinds of ice cream and rating and ranking them.
At first I wanted to stop at 50, but there were still so many that tempted me, so I just kept on going. I still have some that I haven’t tried yet but want to so there might be a Part 2 for some additional ones.
I also originally wanted to review every single one but doing that with 60 flavors would be ridiculously long so I’ll just keep it to rank, name and rating. I also marked the ones that are vegan. All the flavors I couldn’t or just didn’t want to finish eating because of how bad they were are marked with a “*”.
If you want to know more details please ask.

  • Top 10 TV shows I want more people to know about

    1. Flight of the Conchords (2007-2009)
One of my favorite shows ever. It’s a musical comedy about two guy friends from New-Zealand who live together in NYC and are in a band together. The show features the real band’s music and it is so good and funny, that I also listen to it (a lot) completely detached from the show.
    2. Strangers with Candy (1999-2000)
Up front: Very crude and dark humor. So if that’s not your thing, you probably won’t like it. I looove it. Amy Sedaris plays the lead: Jerri Blank, a 46-year-old former sex worker and drug addict who goes back to high school and living with her parents to get her GED.
    3. Documentary Now! (2015-2022)
I tried multiple times to get people hooked on this show but so far I haven’t found anyone who loves it even close to as much as me. Every episode is a parody of a specific documentary or a genre of documentary (mostly it’s based on specific documentaries) and the creators/writers/main cast are all favorite former SNL cast members and writers of mine.
    4. Party Down (2009-2010, 2023)
A very good sitcom about a catering company. Most of the main cast are people that got cast in other, more well-known shows later on. Seriously, this cast is ridiculously stacked. Every episode is centered on a different event they’re catering and the protagonist is a depressed, defeated (relatable) former actor played by Adam Scott. I love this show so so much.
    5. The Mighty Boosh (2004-2007)
Very surreal/eccentric british comedy show about a zoo and the zookeepers and animals. The two protagonists are Howard Moon and Vince Noir. One very low-key guy played by Julian Barratt and one extremely over-the-top fashion icon sex symbol (at least for me) played by Noel Fielding. There’s also very good music in it that I still get random ear worms of despite not having seen it in many years. But keep in mind: it’s a 2000s show and not all jokes aged that well.
    6. Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000)
One of my favorite teen shows, which says a lot because I’ve probably seen most of the genre. The cast consists mostly of people who got famous for different stuff later on (which I always love) and the show is endlessly quotable, hilarious and relatable. It’s about two cliques/subcultures of outcasts in school. The freaks (slackers/stoners) and the geeks.
    7. Portlandia (2011-2018)
Sketch show that makes fun of hipster subcultures in general, but more specificly in Portland. Made by and starring Fred Armisen (former SNL cast member) and Carrie Brownstein (member of Sleater-Kinney). Amazing cast and guest stars and lots of music nerd references and cameos. Also one of my all-time favorite shows.
    8. Bored to Death (2009-2011)
Great show made by Jonathan Ames (writer and more importantly Fiona Apple’s ex bf) about an alcoholic stoner, named after Jonathan Ames himself, who solves crimes and mysteries as an unlicensed private detective. Great cast also!
    9. PEN15 (2019-2021)
Teen comedy show by Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, who play themselves when they were 13. But the other 13-year-olds get played by actual kids which makes for a very bizarre and funny show. Some find it cringe, I find it relatable and wholesome. It’s kind of like if Broad City were about teens.
    10. My so-called Life (1994-1995)
Coming-of-Age drama that has a peak 90s depressed grunge teen vibe (love!!!). A 14/15(?) year old Claire Danes plays the lead and it’s basically about how shitty/difficult it is to be a teenage girl.

    Honorable Mentions:

    • Lady Dynamite (2016-2017)
By the creator of Arrested Development and starring one of my favorite stand up comedians Maria Bamford as herself. Very weird, too weird for a mainstream audience unfortunately (like a lot on this list).
    • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015-2019)
Musical comedy-drama show about a mentally-ill woman moving to a new city because she meets an old crush.
    • My Mad Fat Diary (2013-2015)
British Coming-of-Age show set in the 90s about a teenage girl who gets released from a mental hospital at the beginning of the show. Great (and sadly very rare) mental health AND fat girl representation. If you liked Skins you might like this, too.
    • United States of Tara (2009-2011)
A Show by my fav Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body, etc.) about a mother of two who has DID. Toni Collette plays the lead (very well, as usual) and Aidan from SATC plays her husband. She’s really flexing her acting skills in this one.
    • Sugar Rush (2005-2006)
British teen show about a closeted lesbian who’s in love with her straight best friend (we’ve all been there). It’s about her family struggles, coming out as queer and just being a fucked up teenager. It’s also set in Brighton, which I like.
Also very similar vibe to Skins.
    • Girls 5 eva (2021-2024)
Musical comedy series about former members of a 90s girl group who reunite in their 30s/40s. Good cast, vibes and music. Sadly got cancelled last year. 😭

  • My Top 10 favorite “chick flicks”

Chick flicks are movies that are marketed towards women, mostly romantic comedies or sappy love stories.
They’re often (falsely) regarded as lowbrow entertainment.
I grew up loving the whole genre and had a huge collection, first on VHS then DVD. But when I was a teenager I started feeling insecure about how much I loved them. I wanted to be seen by others as a respectable cinephile with impeccable taste, so I started hiding all of my DVDs that I thought were embarrassing or uncool inside of a secret drawer and a few years later I just gave all of them away. 🥲
In recent years I’ve started buying all the same ones I used to have again whenever I see them at thrift stores and I’m happy to say my collection is slowly growing back to its original size. \o/

For me teen movies are a separate genre so I’ve excluded them on this list. I’ve also excluded Jane Austen adaptations. There are just so many that I love and I didn’t want them to take up all the space.

    1. The First Wives Club (1996)
    2. 13 going on 30 (2004)
    3. Heartbreakers (2001)
    4. Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001)
    5. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
    6. Ever After (1998)
    7. 500 Days of Summer (2009)
    8. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997)
    9. The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
    10. Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

Honorable Mentions: Moonstruck (1987), Joe Versus the Volcano (1990), Jumping Jack Flash (1986), My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), Legally Blonde (2001),
Uptown Girls (2003), What Women Want (2000)
